The imaging Unit aims to implement, test, develop and potential improve the use of various imaging techniques to diagnose, follow treatment responses and understand the underlying patho-physiology and anatomy of various musculoskeletal diseases.
Imaging has become a crucial hallmark in the diagnostic workup and monitoring of most musculoskeletal diseases in both clinical research and daily clinical practice. Especially in chronic MSK diseases imaging such as X-ray and more recently, Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound (US) plays a central role.
Our research focuses primarily on chronic musculoskeletal conditions including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia and degenerative diseases of the spine (axial spondylosis). These conditions can affect most joints and soft issues in the body including muscles and impose a substantial burden on the affected individual and the society.
