Sofie graduated from medical school in 2021 at the University of Copenhagen. As a pregraduate, she was affiliated with the research unit Center of Perioperative Optimization at Herlev Hospital conducting research in the area of gastrointestinal surgery. Recently, she spent one year as a first-year specialty registrar (Introduktionsstilling) in the Department of Anesthesiology at Hvidovre Hospital. In August 2023, she enrolled as a PhD student at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, and is associated with the WHO CC, Clinical Health Promotion Centre at the Parker Institute. Her PhD will focus on risk reduction by improvement of risky lifestyles before surgery (prehabilitation). The cornerstone of the PhD project will be a large national multi-center randomized controlled trial investigating the effect of combined and individually tailored lifestyle interventions with standard care on postoperative outcomes in patients undergoing ventral hernia repair (STRONG-Hernia).
