Professor Robin Christensen holds the position of senior biostatistician and serves as the convener of the Section for Biostatistics and Evidence-Based Research at the Parker Institute. He is a Professor of Biostatistics and Clinical Epidemiology within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Southern Denmark. In this capacity, he is co-affiliated with the Section for Biostatistics and Evidence-Based Research at the Parker Institute, Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital as well as Department of Clinical Research at the University of Southern Denmark (i.e., Research Unit of Rheumatology and the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine Odense [CEBMO]).

Professor Christensen did his Ph.D. in evidence-based rheumatology and biostatistics (2009). He has an international presence, serving as a statistics editor for the 'Cochrane Collaboration’ and contributing as a member of several prominent groups, including the 'Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation' (GRADE) Working Group, 'Outcome Measures in Rheumatology' (OMERACT), and played a pivotal role in establishing the 'International Dermatology Outcome Measures' (IDEOM) initiative.

In the fall of 2017, he was invited to be among the founding members of the 'Technical Advisory Group' (TAG) in OMERACT; the OMERACT TAG collaborates and critically assesses documentation submitted by various working groups concerning the selection of outcome measures.

Professor Christensen is on the editorial board for the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology and serves on the statistical advisory board for BMJ Open. Apart from these roles, he contributes as an editorial member for Arthritis Care & Research, Arthritis Research & Therapy, and the Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research. Notably, in 2022, Professor Christensen accepted an invitation to take on the editorial position as the new Statistical Editor for Acta Orthopaedica, and in 2023 accepted a position among the biostatistical editors for Osteoarthritis and Cartilage too.

Areas of interest: Professor Christensen is engaged in a diverse range of biostatistical methods within medical research, encompassing various clinical epidemiological challenges. His work spans meta-research, study designs, decision-making processes, statistical analysis plans, and the judicious use of statistics with a particular emphasis on transparency. He is dedicated to conducting meaningful and accurate studies that address "answerable questions," a commitment deeply rooted in the historical contributions of clinical epidemiology pioneers advocating for empirical evidence in medicine and proposing foundational rules for guiding clinical decisions. As a founding member of the Evidence-Based Research (EBR) network, he advocates for reducing research waste by endorsing the principles of conducting systematic reviews before initiating new studies and facilitating the efficient production, updating, and dissemination of systematic reviews.

Professor Christensen has supervised more than 21 PhD students (currently supervising 13 PhD students/theses); he has an H index of 70, published 5 book chapters, and more than 400 peer reviewed articles - including articles in the Lancet, CMAJ, Annals of Internal Medicine, BMJ, JAMA and PLOS Medicine.
